Our hand mould is originally from the foundry of C. Christopher Stern. It was started by Byron “Scottie” Scott and completed by R. Stan Nelson in 2013. Hand moulds have been in production from c. 1440 to now. The mould casts a single piece of type at a time. The mould forms the body of the type and is a fixed point size. The matrix forms the printing surface and determines the set width of the character being cast.
